You’ve all chosen a story from Monday’s Gazette to focus on. Each of your stories is about a specific topic or event – like people getting sick from Asbestos in Quebec, the first luxury hybrid car, police arrests in Kingston, Montreal public transit, Roman Polanski’s arrest, and the 1st all-green company.
You’ve all also begun to do some more research on your stories. Now it is time to focus your research even more.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it (actually, you don’t have much of a choice
), is to find out where your story fits in terms of world issues.
For example, if I read the story Teen Pleads Guilty in Montreal North Purse Snatching I would need to figure out where this fit on a world scale. I might do a search for children/teens who commit murder and find other stories about this happening in other places in the world. Or I might do research about the idea of ‘taxing’ in different countries.
Basically, your story is a jumping off point to explore world issues that are happening right now.
You are to create a multimedia presentation (ex: voicethread, video) to present your findings.
It is due on October 16th
